The Bridge Circuit

Our why:

We believe that for the local church to flourish in mission and ministry, time, energy and people must be released (from organisational concerns?) into space where fresh, individual and local, missional passion and focus can emerge.

Our What:

Therefore, as a governance and mission Circuit:

• We fulfil all the responsibilities of governance for local Methodist areas who become part of the Bridge;
• We encourage and resource local church to explore and adventure forward in transformational mission.

Our How

We are an intentionally different, non-geographical structure, a creative expression of a Methodist Circuit formed to provide governance, safeguarding, financial and property oversight so that church in local areas around the District is released from the complex responsibilities of trusteeship, and has fresh space to re-imagine their mission.

We do this by, for example:

• Providing a structure that reduces replication of trustee and management tasks across the District. Less Circuit organisation – More missional space.
• Streamlining approaches to Circuit management
• Employing appropriately experienced and gifted staff to fulfil organisational roles previously tasked to Superintendents and local Stewards
• Drawing together new trusteeship.
• Stationing and supporting Superintendents in each Mission Area with a specific remit for missional leadership
• Providing management support to existing Circuits, by arrangement.
• Sharing our experience and stories, provoking missional conversation and hosting mission resourcing events, open to all.
